Xianglei Li (PhD)

Postdoctoral Fellow

Research Interests

Xianglei Li is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Minnesota (USA). He completed his PhD at Xi’an Jiaotong University (China), where he specialized in uranium-series dating techniques. His research focuses on high-precision, high sensitivity measurement of uranium-series isotopes by MC-ICP-MS and the dating of cave deposits. He is currently working in collaboration with the GeoTraces project to construct Th and Pa profiles of dissolved and particulate samples from the world’s oceans.

Dylan Parmenter (M.S.)

PhD Student

Research Interests

Dylan Parmenter graduated with a Masters in Geology from the University of South Florida in 2018. His M.S. thesis centered on using stables isotopes from ice and guano in New Mexico lava tubes to create late Holocene rainfall and vegetation records. His PhD dissertation focuses on using stalagmites to reconstruct tropical rainfall for the last 70,000 years. Using stable isotope and trace-metal analyses on samples from the Amazon Basin, Peruvian Andes, and eastern Brazil, he plans to show how climate change caused long term perturbations in South American rainfall and vegetation distribution throughout the last glacial period.
